3D Scan of a Female Actress

This time around we were commissioned to do a 3D scan of a female actress for a TV show “Witches of East End”.

Ultra-high resolution was the main requirement, adding to the complexity of this project, was the fact that this was a restricted budget show, requiring us to produce a fully 3D scanned female with retopology and color corrected textures with only 30 DSLR cameras!

And we did it!

The Process

The 3D Scanning process was very familiar to us. Yet, the assembly of this 3D Scan was tough, as we only had 30 cameras to scan with.

The total amount of pieces needed to be re-assembled in zBrush was 9 – a job for a Digital Welder./p>

All in all, it was a great experience having a star over!

The Final Result

The VFX facility which was taking over the transformation sequence was Zoic VFX, Vancouver. They did a great job, but perhaps shots were all to dark.

But, you can't blame a horror show for being too dark, although about 99% of detail got completely lost.

Oh well, maybe next time.
